What’s on This Christmas in Glasgow?

Santa Claus is coming to town! We have scoured the web to see what’s on in Glasgow this Christmas, giving you enough time to plan, invite your friends or book tickets before they sell out.

Riverside Festival

The annual Riverside Christmas Festival will be held on Saturday 7thand Sunday 8thDecember from 11am to 4pm at the Riverside Museum. Enjoy festive fun for all the family with a traditional Christmas Market in the Victorian Street where you can get into the Christmas spirit, browse the stalls for stocking fillers and unique gifts. The event square will be transformed into a playground with free rides. This event is free.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

From December 22ndto 24thyou can see The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Glasgow Science Centre. Tickets are £10 per adult, £6 per child and under 3’s go free. The movie takes place in the Planetarium so you’ll have some festive fun under the stars finding out how Santa makes his way around the Earth on Christmas Eve before the movie showing.

Christmas Spectacular

At the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on December 23rd, enjoy this concert conducted by John Rigby with soprano Claire Rutter, tenor Peter Auty, The Jingle Belle Dancers and ballet principals Ekaterina Bulgutova and Yuri Kudriavtsev. They join the orchestra for a feast of Christmas fun including Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite, Winter from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Dukas’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice as featured in Disney’s Fantasia. Glasgow Christmas Markets

Take a trip to one of the many Christmas markets for edible treats, a glass of festive cheer and some unique gifts. The market will take place at the traditionally decorated St. Enoch Square from Friday 9thNovember to Sunday 23rdDecember at 6pm. There will be over 50 seasonal chalets to enjoy and get into the Christmas spirit.

There are many other independent markets taking place in Glasgow including one at George Square from Sunday 25thNovember to Monday 31stDecember where you can also enjoy the city Christmas Tree and lights. It will also feature the vintage Helter Skelter and carousel, meet Santa and German eateries and bars.

The Country Living fair takes place from Thursday 15thto Sunday 18thNovember at the SEC, Sloans Market is on Sloans Lane every Saturday and Sunday in December from 11am to 5pm, the Merchant Square Craft Market at Candleriggs is every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm and the Epilepsy Scotland Christmas Market is at the Dockyard Social on Sunday November 25thfrom 12pm to 3pm.
