City regeneration
According to the Office for National Statistics, in 2017 Glasgow generated more than £20 billion of economic output – putting us ahead of Edinburgh. The University of Glasgow is spending £1 billion to extend to the site of the old Western Infirmary. The city has many areas of regeneration, following the hugely successful transformation of Finnieston with the SSE Hydro area being transformed into a destination of bars, restaurants and great properties in which to live. In fact, it was one of the highest areas of growth in the UK between 2016 and 2017.
A strong economic outlook
The city has had an economic injection with the recently co-hosted European Athletics Championships with Berlin. In addition, Glasgow has had the highest business start-up rate within Glasgow and Clyde Valley in recent years. We have more jobs per resident than any other local authority in the Glasgow and Clyde Valley region, reflecting its position as the West of Scotland’s economic hub.
A creative hub
In terms of creativity and culture, Glasgow has produced no less than six Turner Prize winners, and the creative future of Glasgow is incredibly promising. We have over 120 TV production companies and the city is also a Channel 4 creative hub. More artists are moving to the city as it offers much more affordable living than London and there are innovative arts and events complexes opening up all over the city, including SWG3 in the West End. The rejuvenated railway arches now house the offices of animators, designers and architects alike.

Official figures show that the average property price in Glasgow this year is £155,383 which is the highest for over 10 years.
