Summer Garden Must Haves for 2017

Summer is here! Though you’d be forgiven for being completely unaware of this fact, given the monumental downpours we’ve been blessed with over the past couple of weeks. When the sun (the what?) comes out, we’ve got to be ready to go at a moment’s notice and soak up as much Vitamin D as we possibly can. To help you transform your outdoor space into haven of comfort and luxury, we’ve compiled a list of our Summer Garden Must Haves for 2017.

Outdoor Swing Chair

Patio furniture is becoming more and more decadent each year. No longer do we have to settle for rigid metal or flimsy plastic – it’s all about comfort and making the summer garden an extension of the living room.

One of our absolute favourites this year is the outdoor swing seat. How decadent. And what better way to while away a sunny afternoon than lounging in a cocoon with your favourite book and glass of homemade lemonade.

We love the Charles Bentley Hanging Egg-Shaped Rattan Swing Chair from ManoMano, and the Indoor-Outdoor Hanging Chair from Cox and Cox.

Hammocks

The selection of hammocks on the market this year is fantastic, and many of them are very reasonably priced. You can get ones that come with a stand, whilst others you can hang from trees or posts around the garden. Yes, they can be a little tricky and comical to get into, but once you’re in…. well, you just won’t want to get out. Perfect for snoozing in a shady spot in the garden on a warm summer’s day.

Our particular favourites this year are the Woven String Hammock from Waitrose, the Tiipii Hanging Hammock (super for kids) from The White Company, and the Amazonas Hammock with Stand from Wayfair.

Chimineas, Pizza Ovens and Fire Pits

The rustic charm of a chimineas and fire pits is great way to enjoy the warmth and glow of a natural flame this summer. As the days become longer, you can keep cosy as you dine alfresco or spend time with friends and family in the garden. What’s more, some of these fantastic chimineas and fire pits even have grills for cooking.

One in particular that caught our attention is the Castmaster Pizza Oven Chiminea. It’s very heavy at a whopping 63kg, so it will remain securely in place when you find the best spot to position it on your patio. Feed it logs or charcoal and get those pizzas and tasty BBQ treats a-cooking!

We also love the Tepro Silver City Fire Pit from Lakeland. A contemporary little number with a log grate and removable mesh dome for protecting against flying sparks, it will look wonderful as the sun starts to set and you relax with a zesty gin and tonic.

Outdoor Cool Bar Table

You’re sitting outside on a hot summer’s day and your cold refreshment has finished… the kitchen is such a long way away… Well, now you don’t have to worry about that. If you’ve ever had a desire for a home bar, then we have a treat for you. An outdoor Cooler Bar Table.

An absolute must have when entertaining this summer, this ingenious piece of patio furniture serves as a stylish coffee/drinks/nibbles table, but has the added advantage of a concealed cooler portion under the extendable table top. Fill with ice and a selection of drinks and you can grab a cold one whenever you want. Our favourite is the Keter Illuminated Coolbar – it’s compact, incredibly stylish, and creates a fantastic warm glow in the evening.
