A Guide to Quick and Budget Friendly Dining Rooms

If you’re thinking about renovating your dining room with a new look but are worried about the cost, don’t be! It’s still perfectly possible to refresh your dining room on a budget. Here are three different scales low budgets and what you can do with them to transform your dining room.

Budgets: £100 and under

Whilst a low budget can make renovating seem difficult, making it a success is a case of doing your research and thinking creatively. It can be easy to refresh the basics of your dining room for under £100 if you come up with a proper plan.

Giving your dining room a deep clean and declutter can make a world of difference when it comes to improving its look and how it feels. Sort through items and possessions in the room and decide if they’re essential to the look or purpose of the room and your life. If they’re not, pack them away somewhere out of sight or donate them to a charity shop. Getting rid of clutter will make your room feel much fresher.

A budget of £100 should also be able to buy you a good pair of ready-made curtains that can help to transform your dining room. You can save a lot of money if you make the curtains yourself— just buy the fabric you want and get to work with a sewing machine! Curtains are surprisingly easy to make— you don’t need to be an amazing sewer! Check out this helpful tutorial to get started.

Budget: £250 and under

A mid-range budget should enable you to tackle more complex tasks, like repainting.

For under £100, you should be able to buy enough paint to repaint the room in a new colour. Around 10L to 20L of paint should be enough to cover all of the walls in a moderately sized dining room.

A top tip is to use a good quality paint, albeit slightly more expensive the paint will be much better quality and will provide a better standard of finish and look. You can save a lot of money in the process if you’re prepared to get stuck in and do the work yourself— labour costs for paying a tradesman to carry out work can significantly raise the cost of your renovation!

As well as repainting, you should have enough left in the budget to think about updating a few fixtures in your room, like adding a new mirror, a few tasteful ornaments or some art.

Budgets: £750 and under

It goes without saying that a higher budget means the world is your oyster when it comes to refreshing your dining room. For £750, you should be able to do all the changes listed above with money to spare.

A higher budget will also let you invest in a new dining table and chair set, helping to completely revitalise your space.

Lighting can also make a huge difference in terms of creating the right atmosphere in a space, so if you’ve got the money available it can make sense in updating this to make your space feel more comfortable.
