Glasgow Summer 2018 Events

Glasgow is a lively city no matter the weather – so if you are looking for things to do we have scoured local event listings for a selection of fantastic events in the city – so you don’t have to! We are all looking forward to the European Championships that will be triggering a series of sports and entertainment events around the city, but other exciting things are going on – so have a browse for a guaranteed fabulous staycation!

Riverside Museum Summer Beach 1st July – 31st August

The Riversdie Museum will be running the annual Summer Beach throughout July and August. Best of all, access is free – so children can enjoy a whole day of sunshine (fingers crossed!) and sand games while adults enjoy a picnic or relax on deckchairs.

A Magical Summer at GOMA 2 July – 11 August

Enjoy free access to Glasgow Museum of Modern Arts supernatural themed workshops: make powerful potions, create creepy creatures, potty plants and even make things fly or transform. Find out more here.

Kelvingrove Bandstand Family Fest 3 July – 22 July

Choirs, Big Band music, a kids’ comedy club, Wee Write festival events, an indie record label showcase, even a magical trail in partnership with University of Glasgow, the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow Science Festival, Kelvin Hall and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. There’s something for everyone all taking place in the stunning and dearly loved Kelvingrove Bandstand.

The Summer Nights at the Bandstand festival 30 July – 11 August

The Summer Nights at the Bandstand festival returns to Kelvingrove Park in July and August and includes performances from Van Morrison, Bryan Ferry, Pretenders and Jimmy Cliff! More information here.

Merchant City Festival 2-12 August

If you have missed it in recent years, Merchant City Festival is a must! From fantastic street food to daily events to entertain young and old alike, there is something for everyone during Merchant City Festival. With many of the local venues being involved and hosting events, you will make it a fantastic day out – or in, depending on the weather.
