Glasgow Ranks in the Top 10 Best Cities in the World!
Time Out joined forces with Tapestry Research to find the world’s best cities for 2019. The Time Out Index survey asked 34,000 anonymous city dwellers from the world’s major cities about food and drink, culture, nightlife, community, happiness, beauty, affordability and convenience to come up with a list of the 48 best cities in the world. The same set of questions were also put to Time Out’s global network of editors and experts: people who know their cities inside and out. They then looked at the numbers to create a definitive ranking of the world’s best cities in 2019.
What makes a city great is subjective – some place importance on nightlife, going out, eating and drinking whereas some would place importance on affordability and overall quality of life. Time Out believes this survey is the answer to discovering what makes a city great – and which cities are leading the way as more and more of the world’s population joins the great urban migration.
Number one for friendliness and affordability
In at number 9 is Glasgow, which was recommended for its dynamic music and range of outstanding clubbing and food scenes. Also, of course, the city was praised for its friendliness, wit and charm!
Time Out stated that Glasgow is…”comfortably the smallest and rainiest city in the top ten, so Glasgow’s lofty ranking may surprise some. But not residents, who love Scotland’s biggest metropolis for its dynamic music, clubbing and food scenes and its daft wit and gregariousness. It’s number one in the world for both friendliness and affordability, and 55 percent say it’s changed for the better – higher than almost anywhere else. If only Glasgow’s weather looked as bright as its future.”
Glasgow beat Singapore, Edinburgh, Toronto, Washington, Vienna and Seattle among 39 others!
In at number one was New York. Here’s the top ten in full:
New York
Melbourne
Chicago
London
Los Angeles
Montreal
