2017 Gadgets for the Kitchen Master

The recent emergence of smart home technology is making considerable headway, with many leading manufacturers offering an increasing range of innovative gadgets for the kitchen. Whilst we can survive quite easily without these luxury items, who doesn’t love a fancy new toy to make everyday living more entertaining? We certainly do. Take a look at this selection of some of the latest kitchen gadgets for 2017.

LÉKUÉ bread maker

Just imagine being able to weigh, knead, leaven, and bake homemade bread each and every day, without the bulky, metal bread machine that doesn’t seem to fit inside any of your cupboards. Yes please. The LÉKUÉ bread maker allows you to do just that, all in a single, multi-purpose container.  It’s a tiny little thing that’s super easy to clean and store. Made from 100% platinum silicone, this high quality material can be used in the oven, microwave, and freezer. It’s also dishwasher safe, so you can bake a quick loaf of bread and then throw the container in the wash when you’re done.

HAPIfork

It’s a smart fork. How we’ve managed to make it thus far without a Slow Control technology fork is a mystery. As children, we had our parents keeping us right by telling us to slow down when eating. As adults, we’ve been left to our own devices. But no more. Now we have HAPIfork. This high-tech eating utensil measures how many mouthfuls you take and begins to buzz and flash if you start wolfing down your dinner too quickly. There’s more…. When you’ve finished eating, you can refer to the ‘dashboard’ via your smartphone to analyse your eating habits. It does sound like a ridiculous gadget, but it’s probably a helpful tool that many of us overly-enthusiastic foodies could benefit from. After all, nobody enjoys indigestion.

iSommelier Pro

iSommelier Pro from iFavine is a smart wine decanter that will help you to achieve in minutes what typically takes years of precise cellaring. This revolutionary device features a unique trio of filters that aerates wine with a constant flow of purified, highly concentrated oxygen. These filters remove dust, contaminants, moisture, odours, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, rounding out tannins and guaranteeing that your wine reaches its full potential. Retailing at around £1300, the price tag is a tad steeper than your average decanter. Something to add to the wish list for your new home, perhaps!

Heated clothes airer

The heated clothes airers from Lakeland have been around for some time, so they don’t really fall into the category of 2017 trends, per se. Nevertheless, every home should have one. They are particularly beneficial if you don’t have a tumble dryer or there’s limited space in your home. Whilst there’s nothing quite like the smell of laundry that has been dried in the fresh air, this is Scotland. It’s just not going to happen. At less than 6p an hour to run, these heated airers can hold up to 15kg of washing and fold flat for easy storage in the hall cupboard or utility room. We cannot recommend them enough.

Taco Truck trays

The Taco Truck is the answer to any taco-eating issues you may be facing. Whilst delicious, tacos are notoriously difficult to deal with because they usually fall apart and spill everywhere as soon as you transfer them to a plate. Nifty little gadgets to make family mealtimes easier – and more amusing. They would also make a fun housewarming gift for a new homeowner.

Smarter Coffee

How would you like to order a cup of coffee from your bed and have it waiting for you when you walk into the kitchen? Well, now you can. Smarter Coffee from Firebox is a wifi coffee machine that you can control from a smartphone or tablet. It grinds and brews fresh coffee beans on demand, you can choose the strength of your coffee, and it has ‘Wake Up’ and ‘Welcome Home’ timers for scheduling a fresh cuppa for when you get up in the morning or return home from work.

Quooker taps

One of the ‘must-have’ kitchen gadgets for 2017 is the Quooker tap, which delivers boiling water as soon as you turn it on. The stylish polished or brushed chrome tap sits on top of your worktop with a tank underneath the sink. There are a number of taps to choose from, including one that dispenses boiling water only, a separate boiling water tap with accompanying mixer tap, and one that delivers hot, cold and boiling water.
